Event Details

Our first Music Under the Dome concert for the 2022-23 season, In Praise of Sound, features both amazing visual designs and incredible performers who will present a series of beautiful works for flute, harps, cello, clarinet, choir, and as always our amazing Yamaha Disklavier piano. First up is Debussy’s shimmering Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune, arranged for flute and two harps, by Whit Dudley. This is followed by a moving piece for solo cello by Mark Summer entitled Julie-O, and played by Schwob cellist, Rae Baker. Next is Johannes Brahms moving Clarinet Sonata No. 2; the first and second movements, both intensely lyrical, will be performed by new Schwob faculty pianist Dr. Esther Park with clarinet faculty, Dr. Lisa Oberlander. We’ll finish with three gorgeous works by Elaine Hagenberg, Roderick Williams, and Jacob Naverud, all for choir under the direction of new Schwob Singers music director, Dr. David Hahn, where the choristers will surround the audience. It will be a wonderful way to start the year, and the concert will finish before sundown too!

Designs by the amazing Omnisphere Theatre Director, Lance Tankersley.

Reception at 5 pm with wine and cheese, and 45-minute concert at 5:37pm!
